The Indie Review: Garnett Vows By Marley O’Connor
Marley O’Connor delivers a quick, steamy vampire romance with high stakes in Garnett Vows!
The story follows Queen Ravenna, an unconventional member of the vampire court. Raised by vampires who were friends of her mortal parents, Ravenna was taught to respect and even love humans, honoring their dignity in life and death.
When she falls in love with Alexander, a human professor, she risks not only her own life but also the lives of her lovers, friends, and Alexander himself to follow the call of her heart. Meanwhile, whispers of werewolves in deadly alliance with witches pose a new threat to Ravenna, forcing her to fight back or lose everything she cherishes.
The author’s strength shines in her clear, well-defined rules and relationships within the vampire world, as well as the connections between vampires, werewolves, and witches. This makes it easy for the reader to understand the stakes and what Ravenna has at risk.
Though I don’t typically read spicy books, this was a fun dive into a world I rarely enter. Dom/sub relationships can feel toxic in some novels, but Marley does an excellent job building trust so the reader can enjoy the romance. The relationships feel safe, grounded in love and respect, which left me eager to read more.
I can’t wait for the sequel!
